# Wake Sports at Key Biscayne Miami — Rickenbacker Marina & Virginia Key

Key Biscayne is where I go when I want a quieter session. Launching from Rickenbacker Marina, you get direct access to the Marine Stadium basin on Virginia Key — one of the most protected and scenic riding zones in Miami.

## The Marine Stadium Basin

The Miami Marine Stadium was built in 1963 as a venue for powerboat racing. The stadium itself is a historic landmark (currently being restored), but the basin in front of it remains one of the best protected wake sports zones in Miami. The basin is sheltered on all sides, virtually free of boat traffic, and has a long straight run of about 800 meters.

## What Makes It Special

- Crystal clear water in the shallows
- Frequent manatee, dolphin, and sea turtle sightings
- More natural, less urban feel than the central bay
- Rickenbacker Causeway views looking back at the downtown skyline
